BIG RIPPLES will last for a while...
Nobody really could have predicted this. While I refuse to subscribe to the "New Normal" line of thought, there are some realities that are going to be around for a while. Things are going to be crazy for a bit longer (not crazy bad necessarily, just crazy different).
Supply chains are severely disrupted. While I see positive signs out there, like lumber prices easing and freshly "chipped" trucks finally leaving the automotive plants, there are so many things that we take for granted being readily available that simply are not so right now. Just like I still find random sections of shelves being empty at the grocery store, or I try to order something as simple as paper products online and find that they are out of stock. So it is also with the marine industry.
Every week we still randomly will run into a hard time getting the parts we need to complete a service job. Boats are being shipped, but our manufacturers do not build every single component of them. They are arriving here after long delays, oftentimes missing parts and typically quite important ones at that. It is frustrating for our customers of course, and frustrating for us, too.
We appreciate the steady stream of customers who share our passion for the water, but also understand the state of the world right now. There are no available boats in our showroom to speak of. The boats we do get in (new or used) are gone so quickly they rarely even make it to the internet. The bulk of the next few months' worth of orders coming in are pre-sold. But there are bright spots! Boats are steadily being built and production capacity is increasing. The model year has changed over and there are some awesome new models headed our way. We appreciate our customers who are willing to show us some patience, and some grace. The ones that did that this past summer are on the water today, enjoying the fruits of sticking with us. The customers that are looking for a boat for next season, at least the savvy ones, are making those decisions now. We will be able to manipulate and change our incoming orders to accommodate quite a few custom orders for 2022. If you intend to be in a new boat next season, please, please come see us soon. We as dealers have trained our customer base in the marine industry to shop for new boats in the springtime of the year. Even if there is a boat show in 2022, our fear is that will be too late to exercise much in the way of choices. We will have boats, but there will be no way to custom order anything new at that time and we will likely be unable to make changes to ones still undelivered at that point.
So please don't get left on the dock. Come talk to us, the sooner you do, the more choosy you can be. And that is what the boating lifestyle is all about, the freedom to choose. Freedom to breathe fresh air. Freedom to create lifetime memories with your family and friends. Freedom to leave troubles behind for a little while.
And the Freedom to make some RIPPLES of your own.
